It’s nice to know that in the 8 hours I was at work, Goonswarm secured four out of the five dropped systems in Fountain. That is some insane-level on-the-ball-ness

Somebody dropped sov in five of Fountain’s systems. Looks like we won’t need to wait for J5A-IX to get a foothold in the region after all!

I’m hoping Test manages to put up more resistance when we’re actually conquering Fountain than they did when a single GSF blops squad managed to turn the entire region into a fucking wasteland because nobody wanted to rat when they were nearby. 

That would be cool.

You know what’s really great? Dealing with Wine problems in Linux on the day before and day of an invasion.

Believe it or not, access to the in-game browser matters in GSF, and fuck you Wine, for having these shit problems with SSL certs.

GS Recon poopsock scouted the entirety of Fountain for POS and sov structures in under 24 hours for this.

Ever since this was announced I’ve been fast-tracking my recon character into a probe truck. I can’t wait to help re-probe every moon in the galactic north.

Training astrometrics V.. next up survey V..

Haha, I finished training those for a completely different GS Recon project about a week before this news dropped. I’m just plugging away at the skills for a Prowler now. I don’t have enough balls to fly around nullsec in a Probe doing moon scan shit.

I’m gonna use a Cheetah, I figure with Gaze probes and expanded cargoholds I’ll be good.

I’m not keen about restocking on probes after every 80 moons.

After hearing all of this good stuff about the Dust514 expansion thing I kind of wish I had a PS3 to try it out. It even got a pass from mittens, who has basically considered it a bad joke ever since it hit beta.

I mean I’m not going to because fuck Sony, but you know…

I was a big fan of the xbox from release until I bought a PS3, after seeing how much better sony treats their players than microsoft does I stopped recommending people to buy a xbox and now recommends PS3.

Free to play online with friends

If you want there is playstation+, costs about half of what xbox gold costs and you get ALOT of games. Two of the games you get this month is Catherine and the latest Hitman. 

If you buy games from the market its close to the prices in stores, even on old games. If you look at old xbox 360 titles on the marketplace they are still full-price.

Games like Dust would not be possible on the 360 with the rules and stuff they have for the publishers.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate Sony because of some petty feud between them and Microsoft. I fucking hate Microsoft too. I hate Nintendo as well for that matter. Everybody sucks, albeit for (usually) different reasons.

The reason I hate Sony is because they are a poisonous and vile company with a track record of making terrible decisions, even outside of the games industry. Do you guys remember the Sony rootkit scandal? 

The PS3 is a trainwreck of a system with about a million different versions, each one worst than the previous. First it had shit PS2 compatibility, then it had no compatibility at all. Then they removed OtherOS because booga booga those pirates are coming to get you. After that they got hacked no less then a dozen times (a direct result of being a dick and yanking OtherOS out from under everyone), which compromised user data because Sony is too terrible to not store passwords in plain text. Their online service was down for a month while they unfucked everything and they apologized by giving everyone their choice of two free games, the combined value of which was somewhere in the neighborhood of $5.

This isn’t even mentioning their initial policy on not allowing any 2D games on their system, the atrocious game library for the first few years of it’s life, dodgy codec and format support for media playback (it’s not as perfect as you think it is), or the trouble they caused developers by using a Cell processor.

Whoops, isn’t this an Eve Online blog? Look at me getting all grumpy at a monolithic tech company.

Shadoo was great, but this FA speaker is choiking. Kesper, the WH guy, and DBRB will probably do alright.

It’s hard to properly participate in Burn Jita II when my microphone doesn’t work in mumble :(

I had a great spot in Jita, but then my computer crashed and by the time I got it up and running again Jita hit the population cap, so now I’m stuck either waiting, or spawning outside Jita.

Edit: Nevermind I snuck in on a lucky click. Unfortunately there are no longer hundreds of CONCORD ships camping the 4-4 undock.

I’ve been running Forsaken Hubs in a blaster Naga for the last couple of days (Because those mean ol’ gankers exploded my Talos) 

I’m so fucking terrible it’s amazing that I’m allowed to even play this game

I never toyed around with fitting the new barges until yesterday, but in less than 10 minutes I managed to fit a brick-tanked Mackinaw with more than 23k EHP and no resist holes, and I only had to drop one harvesting upgrade to do it. This is with a 13m SP highsec alt. At all V’s the EHP…

So, you’re trying to tell me it’d take over 20 catalysts, each at almost 500dps, to gank a 28k ehp ship. Each catalyst thus gets 3 seconds or less firing time? Something tells me that isn’t quite right.

I will admit that I didn’t really math it out and just used volley damage, (which is a shade under 1000), assuming a single gun cycle per ship. What can I say I’m lazy (and stupid). It depends on the system’s security rating. A gank in 1.0 security space will pretty much require what I said since CONCORD response time is nigh instantaneous. In .5 you can get off a few more cycles.

Also: My claim seems a little less absurd with the edited fit (which I added just before I saw your reblog). It adds another 6-10k EHP to the ship depending on damage spread.

Thrashers aren’t very good as gank platforms. Not in the age of the catalyst. They’re usually better PvP ships in general, but they’re DPS constrained when fitted for ganking. Blasters have an insane amount of raw damage that usually goes completely to waste because their range is such shit, but with a warp in and only a few seconds before you’re blown up anyway, it doesn’t matter. Projectile turrets can’t match that. A T2 fit Thrasher withers in comparison to a best-named Catalyst:

Some people fit blaster thrashers for ganking purposes (the old 10 hour hero builds did this before the destroyer rebalancing in Crucible), but without the 8th turret or ship bonuses, it can’t really compete on the same level anymore.

The more you know: It would take an excess of 20 overheated Catalysts to gank that thing.

Edit: If you ditch the adaptive nano plating and one of the resistance amplifiers in the mids (hint: thermal) you can throw on a Damage Control II. This boosts your tank up to 26k if your gankers attack the tiny thermal resist hole, and 29-33k with anything else. You can add a survey scanner in the empty midslot if you’re using strip miners since those eat up less CPU.

remember to install Nvidia’s drivers on your machine. It’s something that nobody mentions anywhere because it’s so obvious that it doesn’t need mentioning, but it took me a day of fiddling with Wine to figure out that Eve was performing shitty because the entire thing was basically running on my CPU and nothing else.

By the time I’m in a Thanatos DBRB will probably be allowed to FC supercap fleets again, so it’ll probably just get welped at a lowsec POCO or something.

would anybody run missions in this game? It’s so boring.

Why would anyone grind sov? Rep poses? Shoot poses? Mine ore? Scan systems?

Because those people enjoy doing it. (or enjoy the reward for doing it enough)

The difference is that all of those things except mining are less boring by virtue of the fact that they serve a higher purpose than just ‘make some money’. Missions are the epitome of banality and pointlessness unless you’re grinding for locators, data cores, or jump clones, and almost nobody does that.

would anybody run missions in this game? It’s so boring.
